Trucking Is A Lifestyle

Have you ever stopped to wonder what the everyday life of a trucker is like?

You may never have thought to question what the everyday life of a truck driver looks like. The career of a truck driver is very different from that of a 9-5 job. When driving, a trucker’s truck is their temporary home. It is where they sleep, eat, and spend most of their days in. There are many things that make the life of a truck driver very exciting. Different sceneries, people, adventures. However, there’s more to it than just simply traveling. A lot of truckers start their day early in the morning, around 5 am. Drivers are limited to 11 hours a day on the road, meaning they must complete their travels within a certain time frame. While on these routes, they must also account for food, rest, weather, accidents. When nighttime comes, drivers either spend the night in their truck or find a place to rest. Come morning time, they begin their routine again. The life of a trucker can be challenging. Being away from home for hours or days on end, on-the-road safety concerns, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are just a few examples. However, the life of a truck driver can also be very rewarding, as the aspect of traveling is very exciting. The job itself is very rewarding: being a very good paying profession and an option to those who may not have gone to college. Shifts are very flexible and there have been attempts at keeping truck drivers closer to home relative to their deliveries. Due to this, every truck driver’s lifestyle is different. Although it comes with hardships, many truckers still enjoy the freedom that comes with it. Oftentimes, they don’t get to interact with a lot of people since they are always on the road. Next time you see a truck driver, say hi. And don’t forget to give them the respect on the road that they deserve.
